We’ve wrapped up the 5th Annual Fatathlon and it really was better than ever. LAMBO’s Shannon Lake Trail Boss Mike Olkowski, also the Race Director, nursed the trails for many weeks, grooming the trail system to perfection! A pre-ride the week before confirmed conditions were fantastic.
Race results are posted here. There were a few surprises with the corn hole bonuses. Folks aren’t all that great with their aim after racing the Shannon Lake loop! But practice helps. Congrats to Ben Bielefeldt for the overall Men’s title for the 11m, with young Tozer Jones right behind him. Cara Feller nabbed first for the women in the 11m. Chris Schotz nabbed first place on the 21m course for the men, pulling the lead through throwing the best corn hole numbers, thereby beating Ryan Jones and Jon Lester. And Jennifer Youngwerth pulled in the first place win for the women on the long course. Congrats to all! And a special shout-out to our oldest racer - Tom Currer, at 65, knocking out the 11 mile course. Nice work!
We want to thank all our participants, volunteers, club members, and supporters. Special thanks to Bare Bones Brewery for providing beer, to Northwoods Portable Toilets for donating their services, to Northern Waters Distillery, Imaginuity, the Hiker Box, Walkabout, Bikes and Boards, Coontail, Trapp Electric, Frank Coffen Carpentry, Coasters Cycle Works for their donation to the event raffle! We raised a pretty respectable amount of money to support our ongoing trail building efforts! And thanks to Jason and family for providing some pretty excellent street tacos, a fantastic new addition to our LAMBO events.
