At a monthly meeting last Spring of the Lakeland Area Mountain Bike Organization, discussion was centered around how Covid was affecting the club. Like many non-profit organizations, the pandemic was limiting their usual fund-raising efforts. The club, whose major annual fundraiser, the cancelled Minocqua Triathlon, See Me Tri, found itself having to think outside the box for new ideas to raise funds for the many trail building projects on it’s docket.
With many stores and restaurants closed or restricted due to the pandemic, more and more people were taking to the outdoors. Manufacturers of bikes, boats and other silent sport equipment were also suffering from the pandemic as sources for materials and factories shut down. As a result, the availability of silent sport equipment in the Lakeland area was limited at the same time that the demand was high.
Enter LAMBO. In an attempt to meet the needs of silent sport enthusiasts as well as raise some cash for the club, the First Annual Bike Swap was born. The success of this venture has prompted the club to hold its Second Annual Bike and Summer Silent Sport Swap. Scheduled for Saturday, June 19th at the Zip Trails, LAMBO looks to continue its win-win event.
LAMBO is accepting bikes of all types, SUPs, kayaks, canoes and any Summer silent sport equipment or accessories. Now’s the time to clean out the garage, basement and boathouse.
