LAMBO does not maintain or groom this trail, but we help out where we can and will make updates as their volunteers inform us.
The Schlecht Lake Trail might not seem like an obvious fit for a mountain biking organization. But there are many members of LAMBO who love cross country skiing and hiking just as much as mountain biking. And, LAMBO loves the Schlecht Lake Trail in particular.
The Schelcht Lake Trail is truly a gem. Located just south of the Minocqua Island, the trail offers lighted ski trails in the winter, and hiking in the summer. The real attraction is the beautiful environment that the trail occupies. It is forested with a mature canopy of hardwoods, and wraps several wetlands and Schlecht Lake itself.
Schlect Lake is truly special, being one of the few wild lakes left in the area. There are no motors allowed on the lake, and the only way to it is by hiking. As a result, it is home to eagles, ducks, river otters, and several fish species.
Combined with Schlecht Lake Trail's proximity Minocqua, makes it an important place where people can connect to nature in a positive and healthy way.
As such, LAMBO provides support for the trail by providing grooming and mowing equipment as well as trail maintenance. Because LAMBO is also a 502c3, the club accepts and manages donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the trail system.
