The Lakeland Area Mountain Bike Organization (LAMBO) is excited to announce a $10,000 matching campaign to help fund three additional miles of mountain bike trails at Musky Mountain. With a funding gap of $20,000, every donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of your support!
Musky Mountain has a storied past as a beloved local ski hill in the 1960s and early 1970s, and it is wonderful to see this historic site being revitalized as a recreation destination for both residents and visitors of the Lakeland Area. The new trails will breathe new life into Musky Mountain, turning it into a year-round hub for outdoor enthusiasts.

These three new miles of trails will be in addition to the five miles already built by LAMBO, contributing to an expansive 15-mile network when the project is complete. Designed for riders of all skill levels, this trail system will offer a perfect mix of gentle climbs, thrilling downhill lines, and breathtaking views over high ridge lines and beautiful valleys — a true gem of Northern Wisconsin’s glaciated landscape.
Construction has started, led by Travis Bellman, a trail builder known for crafting trails that riders love. His expertise ensures that Musky Mountain will deliver an exceptional outdoor experience, combining accessibility with adventure.
Musky Mountain's trail network will be directly connected to the Heart of Vilas County paved bicycle trail network, making it a convenient and accessible destination for locals and visitors alike. Located near several local campgrounds, these trails will enhance the area's appeal as a hub for outdoor enthusiasts, driving sustainable tourism and promoting health and fitness.
